Bareskrim Polri Fails To Smuggle 19 Kilograms Of Crystal Methamphetamine From Malaysia

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police thwarted an attempt to smuggle 19 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in East Aceh waters. Five people who are international drug networks were arrested.

"The joint team from the Directorate of Drug Crimes at Bareskrim and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise managed to secure 5 suspects," said Director of Narcotics Crime at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General Mukti Juharsa in his statement, Tuesday, April 16.

However, it was not conveyed about the identities of the suspects. This is because the development process is still being carried out.

The five suspects have different roles. Two of them are couriers, the other two are recipients, and the rest are controllers.

From the results of the interim examination, 19 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine will be circulated to several regions in Indonesia.

"Meanwhile, they get a wage for delivery of Rp10 million per kilo methamphetamine," he said.

Regarding the pattern of receiving 19 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, Mukti said two couriers took it in Malaysian waters. Then, brought to the waters of Idirayeuk, east Aceh.

"It was escorted to the waters of East Aceh, by being taken by fishing boat," said Mukti.
