69-Year-Old Grandmother Persecuted And Raped, Acting Walkot Sorong Asks Police To Quickly Arrest Perpetrators

Sorong Mayor Septinus Lobat paid a visit to the Sele Be Solu Regional General Hospital (RSUD) to see closely the health condition of a grandmother with the initials I (69) who was a victim of rape.

"This is the responsibility of the Sorong City Government to pay attention because they do not have a family in Sorong City, then coupled with the disaster they have experienced," explained Acting Mayor Sorong Septinus as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 16.

This visit, he said, was a form of government concern for the condition of the victim, who is a resident of Sorong City.

Another concrete effort is through the Social Service which has built coordination with the central government to pay attention to and assist victims related to treatment in Sorong City and referrals outside the region.

"The Social Service has coordinated with the Ministry of Social Affairs to be ready to help with the medical expenses of this mother," he said.

The Acting Mayor of Sorong also hopes that the Sorong City Police will immediately arrest the perpetrators of the persecution and rape of the victims so that the case can be revealed and the perpetrators will be charged with appropriate punishment.

"I really hope that the police will immediately arrest the perpetrators and be processed according to the applicable law," he hoped.

The Head of the Protection of Women and Children of the Sorong City Police, Ipda Nelfince Rumbino, said that the follow-up to this case was of course still waiting for the recovery of the victim's health condition to get further information related to the perpetrators.

"The city is still waiting for the victim's condition to improve, but the victim himself has revealed the characteristics of the perpetrator but not yet strong," he said.

In addition, his party has also conducted examinations of three witnesses and pointed to several names. But he has not been able to determine the status of a suspect because he is still investigating by collecting strong evidence.

Previously, the victim was found covered in blood and naked in his house on April 12, 2024 at 10.00 WIT by the witness, after the victim was visited by the perpetrator at 03.00 WIT in the morning.
