Backflow Of Motorcycle Cycling Passengers At Bakauheni Port Rises

PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Bakauheni Main Branch stated that the backflow of passengers on motorbikes at Bakauheni Port, Lampung, on Saturday (13/4) doubled compared to the previous day.

"On Saturday, April 13, 2024, the number of motorbikes that were dispatched from Bakauheni Port was 12,555 units, a double increase compared to the previous day of 5,984 units," said General Manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Bakauheni Main Branch Rudi Sunarko at Bakauheni Port, Lampung, Sunday, April 14.

According to him, passengers on motorbikes were dispatched from Bakauheni Port to Merak Port, Banten, using 34 ships with 120 trips.

"The number of motorcycles being crossed is also more when compared to the same period in 2023 which is only 11,688 units," he said.

Based on observations at Bakauheni Port on Sunday (14/4), passengers on motorbikes continue to arrive at the port to queue for entry to the ship via the available route.

The queue of vehicles is orderly and is still in the port area or has not overflowed to the outside of the port gate.

Secretary of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Shelvy Arifin, was met separately, saying ASDP provided as many as 66 ships to serve the need for backflow with the number of ships operating every day being adjusted to the needs in the field.

He appealed to ferry service users to come to the port according to the schedule listed on the ticket so as not to cause traffic congestion that causes traffic jams or long queues at the port.

ASDP has also imposed a policy of removing ticket validity for the first 24 hours during the April 11-21 period or during the 2024 Eid backflow period.

" Service users do not need to worry about the validity period of the ticket so they do not have to come early to the port which can trigger congestion at the port," he said.
