Korlantas Adds Safety Car To Control Contraflow In Cikampek

The National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) has imposed a contraflow on the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road towards Jakarta in order to unravel the increase in traffic volume during the 2024 Eid backflow.

The Head of Traffic Police, Inspector General Aan Suhanan, revealed that one of the schemes implemented was the traffic Contraflow engineering as a step to control the backflow of vehicles. Various components have been prepared, such as the addition of a safety car or escort vehicle to monitor speed limits and additional aid vehicles such as tow trucks, ambulances and so on.

"The addition of a safety car or escort vehicle fleet to monitor the speed limit on the contraflow route," said the National Police Headquarters, quoted from the official Police website, Sunday, April 14.

"There will be moredalurat vehicles or supporters such as cranes, ambulances and so on to ensure faster mitigation measures," he added.

Kakorlantas said efforts to improve road infrastructure were also carried out by his party by adding road barriers such as traffic cones and barriers.

"Tighten road restrictions by adding a combination of cones and barriers along the way," said Inspector General of Police Aan.

In addition, increasing street lighting by adding a guard light on the contraflow route is also a priority.

"To help better driver visibility, it will also apply additional lights as a barrier for both contraflow and regular lanes," he concluded.

Korlantas Polri will also continue to educate the public about procedures and the importance of complying with traffic rules when using the contraflow route. It is hoped that with this strategy, the return flow of Eid can be managed more efficiently and safely for all road users.
