The Shooting Of Danramil Aradide, TNI Alludes To Serious Human Rights Violations

The TNI alluded to gross human rights violations related to the death of Danramil 1703-04/Aradide, Lt. Inf. Oktovianus Sokolay who was shot dead by OPM gangs in the Pasir Putih area, Aradide District, Paniai, Central Papua.

"We, the TNI, mourn the death of TNI soldiers on behalf of Lt. Inf. Oktovianus Sokolay, Danramil 1703-04/Aradide for being attacked and shot by OPM gangs," said Head of TNI Maj. Gen. Nugraha Gumilar in his statement Friday, April 12.

"Directly, after being shot, it was then displayed on the head and hands, what OPM did was a gross violation of human rights," he continued.

Nugraha said the incident injured peace in Papua, including the acceleration of development.

"That this OPM heinous act has injured efforts to create peace and peace and accelerate development in Papua," he said.

Nugraha added that currently Oktovianus' body has been brought to Nabire.

"Currently in the Paniai area, the situation is conducive. The National Police's security forces are pursuing the OPM for this barbaric perpetrator," he said.
