Coordinating Minister For Human Development And Culture: 12 People Died In Accident At KM 58 Cikampek Toll Road

KARAWANG - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy directly inspected the process of identifying accident victims on the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 58 Toll Road at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Karawang Regency, West Java.

"Currently the process is still being carried out by the National Police Inafis to reveal the identity of the victim," Muhadjir said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, April 8.

In accordance with the information received, he said, the death toll from the accident amounted to 12 people who were passengers of two burning cars.

A total of 12 victims who died included seven men and five women.

All of the victims allegedly died at the scene, because they were roasted after the car they were traveling in caught fire due to the fire.

For now, the deceased is at the Karawang Hospital. Meanwhile, the injured victims were taken to Rosela Hospital Karawang.

Until now, the police are still conducting further investigations to find the cause of the deadly accident.

Meanwhile, traffic accidents on the KM 58 contraflow route of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road involve three vehicles, namely the Primajasa Bus number B-7655-TGD, Gran Max number B-1635-BKT and Daihatsu Terios.

Two vehicles, namely Daihatsu Terios and Gran Max, were burned to the ground in the incident.

The deadly accident occurred on Monday morning when a contraflow was implemented on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road.

Gran Max's car, which is on the contraflow route, was about to pull over on the shoulder of the road, and entered the opposite lane leading to Jakarta.

Then a bus from the direction of Cikampek could not avoid the Gran Max vehicle, until finally an accident occurred until Gran Max's car caught fire. Then the Terios vehicle hit the bus and Gran Max until the car caught fire.

Karawang Police Chief AKBP Wirdhanto Hadicaksono said that until now his party had evacuated 13 body bags to the Karawang Hospital. The victim is a passenger who is Gran Max's car.

"For the time being in the Gran Max car no one survived, all died. And then it is currently being identified," he said.

The pooling is currently conducting identification to find out who died in the incident.

"Currently, it is in the identification process. We make sure it is correct, because there are pieces that are intact but some of them are not intact. That's why they are still in the identification process," he said.
