Banten Police Chief: Travelers Don't Hesitate To Rest At Service Posts

JAKARTA - The public is advised not to hesitate and worry about resting during the Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri/2024 homecoming trip. This is so as not to hesitate and worry about resting if you are tired at the service post provided by officers.

Banten Police Chief Inspector General of Police Abdul Karim said, especially the location of the homecoming service post was prepared in anticipation for travelers who would use the land route to Merak, especially two wheels.

"We put this here so that people can be more comfortable when doing homecoming to rest," said the Kapolda quoting Antara.

In this case, his party ensures security readiness on the Lebaran homecoming route by conducting direct inspections at several existing integrated posts.

"In general, from our readiness, the Banten Police are ready to provide security and services to the community who will carry out homecoming," he said.

He said, in Operation Ketupat Maung 2024, all his staff had been ordered to be prepared to carry out activities to secure the flow of homecoming and return to Lebaran this year so that it could run optimally, thus providing a sense of security and comfort for the community, especially travelers.

The posts, which were established by his party, were prepared as transits or breaks for travelers who crossed the Tangerang, Serang, Cilegon arterial routes until finally at Merak and Ciwandan ports.

"This is also a buffering place or transit place for two-wheeled vehicles if the Ciwandan and Merak areas experience a buildup of vehicles, so they can be temporarily buffered in the Tangerang area," he said.

He added, at the moment of this year's Lebaran homecoming, it is predicted that there will be an increase in the volume of vehicles up to 10-20 percent, which peaks from Friday (5/4) to Sunday (7/4).

"To anticipate, we do not have traffic engineering, especially on toll roads. But we use rest areas as buffering or shelters when there is a buildup in Merak," he said.
