Minister Of Religion Believes Pakistan's Muslim Population Has No Impact On Indonesia's Hajj Quota

JAKARTA - Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas believes that the Indonesian Muslim population displaced by Pakistan as the country with the highest number of Muslim populations in the world will have no impact, including in determining the quota for pilgrims.

"Yes, the quota for Hajj per thousand, I don't think it will affect the hajj quota. Because the calculation is per thousand and one Hajj pilgrim, so there will be no effect," said Minister of Religion Yaqut as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 4.

Previously, the World Population Review reported that the Muslim population in Pakistan currently reached 240.8 million people or 98.19 percent of the total country's population.

In second place, Indonesia recorded as many as 236 million people who were Muslim or 84.35 percent of the country's total population.

Minister of Religion Yaqut said Islam is not something that must be calculated in quantity or calculation. In fact, Islam must be seen as quality in caring for life.

"And there are not many Muslims, Islam is a matter of quality, not quantity," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Islamic Community Guidance at the Ministry of Religion Kamaruddin Amin said in the Islamic report that Islam would become the majority religion in the next few years.

However, he highlighted not about numbers, but showed that Islam is a religion that is increasingly interesting because it feels its signature in life.

"Islam is not only in the Middle East, but in East Asia and Europe it is extraordinary (its interest)," said Kamaruddin.
