Asked To Attend Eid Prayers At Istiqlal, Jokowi May Celebrate Eid In Jakarta

Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno said President Joko Widodo may celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri or Lebaran 2024 Jakarta.

Pratikno said this could happen because the President received a letter from the Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas to attend and perform Eid prayers at the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta.

"What is clear is that there has been an incoming letter from the Minister of Religion to the President, an invitation to pray Id at Istiqlal. So it could be in Jakarta," said Pratikno when met at the Jakarta State Secretariat Building, Wednesday, April 3, which was confiscated by Antara.

When asked further about the possibility of the President holding an "open house" in the last year of his leadership, Pratikno only answered normatively. "Waiting for aspirations. What are the aspirations?" he said.

On Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri or 2023, President Jokowi celebrated the moment of Eid with his family in his hometown, in Solo, Central Java.

Meanwhile, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin remained in Jakarta during Eid al-Fitr last year.

Both of them did not hold an "open house", both for media crews and ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.
