JAKARTA - The Jakarta Cathedral Church carries decorations with the nuances of a combination of Betawi Culture to the State Capital (IKN) at the 2024 Easter celebration, as well as inviting people to love the environment and produce more.

"There are also decoration angles by displaying details from Kalimantan, related to preparations for the transfer from the capital city in Jakarta and then to IKN in Kalimantan, so there are elements of Betawi and IKN," said Public Relations (Humas) of the Archdiocese of Jakarta and the Suwadie Cathedral Church in Jakarta, Sunday.

He explained that recycling decorations used materials that had been used, which were spread across several points of the Cathedral Church, one of which was Plaza Maria.

"Then there is also an angle in the display of the produce of the earth, related to the people's party in the context of the Easter celebration. Regarding this produce, we as a people are also invited to preserve nature," he said.

In addition, he stated that the Cathedral Church also carried Easter wayang silhouette decorations.

"We also use Easter wayang decorations, there is the theme Holy Week starting Palm Sunday, White Thursday, Good Friday, until now Easter Sunday," he said.

The Easter silhouette depicts four events in a series of Easter celebrations in the Holy Week, the first is the arrival of the Lord Jesus in Jerusalem as part of the commemoration of Palm Sunday, and the second is the ritual of washing the feet of the deceased by Jesus as part of the commemoration of Thursday. White.

The third is the incident of Jesus being crossed in Bukit Golgota, and the fourth is the arrival of the Lord Jesus as a commemoration of Easter Sunday.

"The Easter Day symbolizes that the church cares and is actively involved in preserving the traditional noble values of Indonesia that are inherited, with a dynamic renewal spirit following the times," he said.

The Pontification Easter Mass will be held on Sunday (31/3) starting at 08.30 WIB led by Cardinal Ignasius Suharyo and Kuria of the Jakarta Archdiocese. Then, followed by Easter Morning Mass or Family Mass at 11.00 WIB, and Easter Mass at 17.00 WIB.
