393 Residents Of Class II A Metro Prisons Get Proposal For Eid 2024 Remission

There were 393 assisted residents proposed by the Class II A Penitentiary (Lapas) in Metro Lampung City to receive special remission or reduced sentences in Lebaran 2024.

"Yes, as usual, inmates who are Muslim and who meet the requirements on this occasion are entitled to special remission for Eid al-Fitr," said Head of Class II A Metro Prison Muchamad Mulyana in Metro, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, March 30.

From this proposal, he said, later each inmates will receive a reduced prison term ranging from 15 days to 2 months.

"There will likely be three inmates who will be declared free after receiving this special remission," he said.

The remission, he said, refers to several things such as the results of the evaluation of the length of the sentence and behavior period while in prisons and other things.

"So, the requirement to get remission on Eid al-Fitr, namely Islam, to behave well, and to have served a minimum sentence of 6 months. After that, we scored the inmates and assessed them as well," he explained.

He emphasized that granting remission is basically the right of the inmates. Therefore, every inmates are entitled to remission after being declared to meet the predetermined requirements.

"Yes, so there are no exceptions. Inmates from all cases can get remission as long as they meet the requirements that have been determined to get remission on Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri. If they do not meet the requirements, of course they are not proposed to be remission," he said.
