The 14th Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ), which was organized by the World of Malay, the Islamic World (DMDI) of South Kalimantan, was attended by participants from a number of countries in the Southeast Asia region.

In organizing the event, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, March 30, DMDI collaborated with the Indonesian Mosque Youth Youth Communication Agency (BKPRMI) in Banjarmasin City.

DMDI President, or Sultan Melaka Tun Seri Setia Dr H Moch Ali Rustam Yang di-Pertuan Negeri Melaka Malaysia which opened the MTQ Internasional event at the Banjarmasin City Hall on Friday said that the purpose of the event was to instill the love of people reading the Koran, as well as to preserve and feel togetherness between the Malay world nation.

Apart from Indonesia as the host, the participants who took part in the activity were from Singapore and several countries in Malaysia, such as Perak, Trianggano, Perlis, Melaka, Serawak, and Negeri Sembilan.

Sultan Melaka revealed that DMDI was formed 24 years ago to collaborate with each other between DMDI members, exchange information, advance the Malay world from an economic and technological perspective to be equal to other countries.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Inter-National MTQ Committee, Muhamad Riskon, explained that participants from 17 regions in Indonesia participated in the Inter-National MTQ, including Aceh, Ripri, Lampung, North Sumatra, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Banten, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, NTB, and Southeast Sulawesi.

Riskon revealed that participants from Cambodia, Thailand, and Brunei Darussalam had stated that they would participate, but resigned during the event.
