KPK Confirms It Has Not Received Rp40 Million From Sahroni In The SYL Money Laundering Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that it had not received Rp40 million which Ahmad Sahroni as the General Treasurer of the NasDem Party because it was related to the crime of money laundering (TPPU) of the former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

This was conveyed by the Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri in response to Sahroni's statement that he would return the money after undergoing an examination on Friday, March 22. He confirmed whether or not there was a transfer with the nominal in question.

"We checked last time the information we got was not yet available," Ali told reporters quoted on Thursday, March 28.

Even so, the anti-corruption commission believes Sahroni will immediately return the money. This is because the Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI has once returned Rp820 million in the same case.

"We read in the news that Pak Sahroni said he would cooperate in handing it over so we believe that we will also hand it over or return the hang to the KPK holding account," he said.

Sahroni agrees that Syahrul Yasin Limpo handed over money to his party after carrying out an examination at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta on Friday, March 22. "IDR 820 million from SYL and IDR 40 million for flood disaster relief, yes," he told reporters at the time.

Of this amount, Sahroni said Rp820 million had been submitted to the anti-corruption commission. "There is only one addition that I told you this morning. There is Rp40 million that needs to be confirmed and investigators have suggested the day to be transferred to a virtual account immediately," he continued.

Previously reported, the KPK named Syahrul Yasin Limpo as a suspect in alleged money laundering. This step was taken after investigators developed allegations of extortion and gratification which is currently being tried at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN).

In the case of extortion and gratification, Syahrul was charged with extortion of up to Rp44.5 billion in the 2020-2023 period. This action was carried out together with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.

This money was then used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. Then, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 M from January 2020 to October 2023.
