The East Java Regional Police deployed around 16,000 more joint personnel in the Ketupat Semeru Operation 2024 to secure the flow of homecoming and return as well as the Eid al-Fitr long holiday or Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriah.

East Java Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugianto said Operation Ketupat Semeru 2024 will be held from April 3 to 16, and will officially open through troop rally activities by inviting the East Java Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda).

"About 16,000 more personnel we have deployed. That's dynamic, it can change along with the mapping we found in the field. Of the more than 16,000 personnel, from the TNI there are more than 1,300 personnel, who standby 7,000 personnel, while from related stakeholders, such as the Transportation Agency and Satpol PP there are more than 1,000 personnel," he said after the cross-sector coordination meeting to prepare for the security of homecoming and return to Lebaran 2024 as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 27.

One of the Ketupat Semeru operations was held to focus on securing tourist activities during the Eid al-Fitr long holiday.

"On 10 and 11 (April) Eid holidays, then holidays until the 15th (April). We anticipate a red date after the implementation of Eid al-Fitr on April 10," he said.

"Hopefully with this mapping and technical coordination meeting, we can map the vulnerability and we determine how to act on security that is good for people who do homecoming or recreation in East Java," he said.

The Kapolda appealed to the public to really check the condition of their house when going on a Eid homecoming trip for a long time.

"We also map it for large-scale patrols from the National Police/TNI and related stakeholders. Hopefully there will be no crime and violence," he said.
