Why Does The DKI Provincial Government Insist On Selling Beer Shares? Deputy Governor Riza: We Must Fulfill Campaign Promises

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor (Deputy Governor) of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria answered the DPRD's question why it wanted to sell shares of the liquor production company PT Delta Djakarta Tbk. Currently, DKI owns 26.25 percent of beer shares.

Said Deputy Governor Riza, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan wanted to sell beer shares in order to complete the campaign promise at the 2017 DKI Pilgub, when paired with Sandiaga Uno.

"Regarding the (release) of shares in PT Delta, this is a promise rather than Anies-Sandi. Every leader has a campaign promise. When elected, it means that those who are elected must fulfill their promises," said Riza at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, March 3.

According to Riza, if the DKI Provincial Government releases the shares, there will not be any loss of regional income. "If it is sold to the public, the money is received back and it can be used for other purposes. For example, for the benefit of COVID-19 and education," he continued.

Currently, the DKI Provincial Government is waiting for approval from the DPRD regarding the sale of PT Delta's shares. This is because when there is a transfer of regional assets over IDR 5 billion, it must go through the approval of the DKI DPRD. This is in accordance with Government Regulation Number 27 of 2014 concerning Management of State Property.

"To fulfill the campaign promise, the Jakarta Provincial Government, the Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta cannot decide on their own. Must get approval from DPRD friends, we'll just wait," he said.

Jakarta DPRD Chairman Prasetyo Edi Marsudi questioned the reason why the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government wants to sell shares of the liquor production company PT Delta.

According to Prasetyo, there will be no financial loss if the DKI Pemprov owns shares in PT Delta. In fact, DKI has received income from share ownership gains received since the days of DKI Governor Ali Sadikin.

"What's wrong with it? There's nothing wrong with it. The money (Read: share gain) can make (Read: development) RPTRA, or what," said Prasetyo at the DPRD DKI Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, March 2.

According to Prasetyo, the placement of shares from the DKI Provincial Government to PT Delta, in addition to increasing regional income, is also carried out to measure the extent to which Delta-made drinks such as Anker, Carlsberg, and San Miguel brands are circulating.

"At PT Delta, the government has stepped in to measure the community down to the RT-RW level, to what extent are they drinking. This is a danger, wild," he said.
