Prabowo Says The Indonesian Coalition Will Not Be Embarrassed By Admitting To Be Jokowi's Successor

JAKARTA - Indonesian Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto emphasized that all parties who are members of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition do not hesitate and are ashamed to be the successor to the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"We are here, the Forward Indonesia Coalition, we do not hesitate and are not shy about saying we are the successors of President Joko Widodo," Prabowo said when delivering his remarks on the gathering agenda and opening together in Kuningan, Jakarta, Monday, March 25 evening.

According to Prabowo, a good and honorable nation is a nation that respects its leaders. Prabowo also admitted that he respected the previous Indonesian presidents and was determined to improve things that were still considered less than optimal.

"Ladies and gentlemen, our goal is clear. We build on the foundation that has been built by our predecessors, by the presidents before us, we admit that, we respect that. We respect all presidents before us, we recognize our strengths and shortcomings, but we are determined to correct these shortcomings," he said.

On the other hand, Prabowo, who has been appointed by the Indonesian KPU as the winner of the 2024 presidential election, said that his victory and Gibran Rakabuming Raka was the victory of the Indonesian people. He thanked the supporters.

"I thank you that you believe in me. I consider myself and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, we are only flag bearers, we are only carriers, we are only representatives of all of you," said Prabowo.

He also labeled himself and Gibran as symbols of the ideals and desires of the people.

"These great national figures in front of me, they support me, they support Gibran, not because Prabowo is great, not because Gibran is great, but because Prabowo and Gibran are symbols of the ideals of our people, symbols of the wishes of our people," he said.

Prabowo promised to accept the people's mandate as a noble assignment and will carry it out with all their heart and responsibility.

"I accept this mandate as a noble assignment, as a task by the Indonesian people which I will carry out with all my heart, with a full sense of responsibility to the Indonesian people," added Prabowo.

The gathering and joint opening were also attended by Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The general chairman of the Indonesia Maju Coalition party also appeared to be present, including the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto, Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan, and Chairman of the Crescent Star Party (PBB) Yusril Ihza Mahendra.

In addition, the Chairperson of the National Campaign Team (TKN) Rosan Roeslani, Secretary of TKN Nusron Wahid, Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani, and a number of national figures such as Aburizal Bakrie and Hatta Rajasa were also present.

Previously, the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU), Wednesday (20/3) night, appointed Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the elected candidate pair in the 2024 General Election with a total of 96,214,691 votes.

Meanwhile, the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair received 40,971,906 votes, while the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md. pair got 27,040,878 votes.
