7 Suspects Bring 31 Kg Of Methamphetamine Crossing The Malacca Strait Arrested, Revealed Using Drug Warehouse In Malaysia

JAKARTA - The Riau Regional Police confiscated 31 kilograms (kg) of crystal methamphetamine and 2,387 ecstasy pills from seven suspects in the international network in Bengkalis Regency. "The modus operandi is that they use ships and enter goods by crossing the Malacca Strait by sea," said the Director of the Narcotics Director of the Riau Police, Kombes Pol Manang Soebeti, in Pekanbaru, Riau, Monday, March 25, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that these illicit goods then entered through Rupat Island, Bengkalis some time ago.

The plan was to send it to Dumai City, but his party managed to arrest the suspects along with the evidence.

The suspects have different roles. There are those who act as land couriers, sea courier coordinators, and controllers who cross goods from Malaysia.

One of the suspects even had his own warehouse in Malaysia which was used specifically to store the drugs before being sent.

"When someone orders, then he prepares transportation to deliver these illicit goods," said Manang.

According to Manang, the suspects were paid IDR 10-20 million. This drug plan will be circulated to Riau Province and sent outside Riau as well.

Previously, in early March, large amounts of drug trafficking was also revealed in Bengkalis. The Bengkalis Police Narcotics Investigation Unit thwarted the smuggling of 2.6 kg of crystal methamphetamine, even 551 grams of cocaine around Sepahat Village, Bandar Laksamana District.

One suspect with the initials SY (47) from Dumai City along with his drug evidence in the operation which was held on March 7.
