Eight personnel from the Maybrat resort police (Polres), Southwest Papua, underwent a disciplinary hearing on the Polri professional code of ethics for leaving the area or place of duty without the knowledge of the region's highest leadership.

Deputy Head of Maybrat, AKP Zawal Halim said the trial was to hear statements from both witnesses and members who were being investigated.

"The leader of the trial gave a decision by being declared legally and convincingly in violation of the discipline of Polri members," Halim said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 22.

Eight personnel who underwent an ethics trial include Bripda MAM, Bripda EJ, Bripda GEB, Bripda GK, Bripda JTI, Bripda ZAB, Bripda M.G.I, Bripda R.P.B.

"Eight personnel violate the Police disciplinary regulations in the form of leaving their duties without a leadership permit and/or avoiding official responsibilities as stipulated in Article 6 Letter (b) and (c) Government Regulation Number 2 of 2003 concerning disciplinary regulations for Polri members," said Halim.

Zawal Halim asked the eight personnel who had received the trial verdict to sincerely carry out the disciplinary sentence.

"The purpose of disciplinary punishment is to improve and educate members of the National Police who violate discipline to be better and have a deterrent effect on violators and other personnel," Halim said.

The decision that has been handed down to six disciplinary violators in the form of a written warning, a periodic salary delay for six months, placement in a special place for 21 days and one personnel being sanctioned in the form of a written warning and placement of a special place for 21 days while one more personnel is subject to a written warning.
