Pemalang Resort Police, Central Java, thwarted a sarong war brawl in Jebed Selatan Village, Taman District, this morning as well as confiscated a number of evidences such as sickles and sarongs. Pemalang Police Chief AKBP Yovan Fatika Handdiska Aprilaya said the sarong fight plan could be prevented when the police received information from the public through social media. "After receiving information, Samapta unit personnel who were carrying out patrols immediately moved to the scene of the case to prevent the sarong war," he said in Pemalang, Antara, Friday, March 23. A group of people who were at the scene of the case tried to escape after learning of the arrival of officers. However, officers gave chase and were able to arrest a child suspected of being involved in a sarong war and a number of pieces of evidence. The police chief said the child and all the evidence that was secured by the police were then taken to the Pemalang Police Station for questioning. "The evidence confiscated were 2 sickles, 4 sarongs, 4 cell phones, and 8 motorbikes are now being held at the Police Headquarters," he said. According to him, the police are still intensifying preemptive and preventive efforts to anticipate disturbances in public security and order during Ramadan.
