JAKARTA - The Regent of Gresik, East Java, Fandi Akhmad Yani alias Gus Yani, mentioned the hoax news that went viral some time ago regarding a member of Kodim 0817 Gresik who died after being vaccinated.

"The news is unsettling, so that people are reluctant, even afraid to be vaccinated. I remember that the news went viral that Mr Kasdim 0817 Gresik reportedly passed away after undergoing vaccination, now we see his condition, he looks in good health, and the news is not proven to be true. and indeed a hoax, "said Gus Yani on the sidelines of a vaccination activity at the Gresik Kodim, reported by Antara, Tuesday, March 2.

Gus Yani asked members of the Kodim 0817 Gresik to campaign to the public that this vaccine is truly safe.

"Vaccination is one of the government's efforts to tackle COVID-19, which is currently still stalking everyone. This vaccine has also undergone rigorous clinical trials, so it is confirmed that it is safe and halal," he said.

He hopes that the community will not worry, to jointly make efforts to break the chain of the spread of COVID-19 in Gresik Regency, one of which is by vaccinating.

The commander of the Kodim 0817 Gresik, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Taufik Ismail, confirmed that currently there are 330 members who are undergoing vaccination. Later the vaccination stage will be carried out in 4 days to minimize crowds.

"The vaccination for members of the Gresik Kodim 0817 is specifically for the PPKM Operations Enforcement Task Force, namely the Babinsa," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Gresik Health Office, drg. Saifudin Ghozali, said vaccination against the TNI was part of the phase II program, after the Gresik Regency Government received as many as 20 thousand doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

"For this stage, we are targeting vaccination for 10 thousand recipients. The targets are ASN, TNI, Polri and also vertical agencies in Gresik Regency," said Ghozali in Gresik.

He targets that the second phase of vaccination will be completed this week, so he can immediately re-submit a supply of the COVID-19 vaccine to be given to people who have not received it.
