BANTAENG - Accompanied by the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi (Sulsel), Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, the Coordinating Minister (Menko) for Human Development and Culture (PMK), Muhadjir Effendy, inaugurated the operation of the Bantaeng Regency Integrated Nutrition Management Center building.

The Coordinating Minister for PMK, Muhadjir Effendy, admitted that he was amazed by the existence of this building. Muhadjir suggested to give the name Integrated Nutrition Service Center.

"We appreciate the low stunting rate of 21 percent, exceeding the central level of 27.6 percent. Bantaeng must be a pioneer to reduce stunting rates with strong government and community cooperation," he said in a written statement, Tuesday, March 2.

The Coordinating Minister for PMK said President Jokowi had set a target of reducing stunting by 14 percent until the last period of 2024.

Meanwhile, Acting Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, appreciated the presence of the Integrated Nutrition Management Center in Bantaeng. In fact, this is the first in Indonesia. Moreover, the stunting rate in Bantaeng is 21 percent, below the province which reaches 24 percent.

"We are grateful to the regent and his staff for the efforts to reduce the stunting rate. Indeed, the Bantaeng people are great people. Alhamdulillah, we can cooperate with an energetic Regent," he said.

He mentioned the need for joint interventions to reduce stunting. For example, through the Gammara'na program or (Community Movement to Eradicate Stunting). With the assistance of the provincial budget, a pilot project was carried out in two regions with high rates of stunting, namely Bone and Enrekang.

"Alhamdulillah, now Bone is in the 12th stunting figure. We have deployed 85 mentoring promoters in 51 villages. This handling requires joint synergy," he explained.

In addition, education is also needed for the community regarding the importance of understanding 1,000 days of children's life, fulfilling nutrition for children, even about 75 days before marriage.

"The best investment is human resources. Infrastructure can be measured, there is a limit of 35 years it has been destroyed. But by building people, we can create other things. Generation is the best investment," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of BKKBN, Hasto Wardoyo, supports Andi Sudirman's words that human investment is much better.

"We ask for the direction of the Minister and the support of the Acting Governor to provide education to the public. BKKBN will work hard for health feasibility reform," he said.

In the two-story building, they visited several facility rooms at the Center for Integrated Nutrition Management. One of them is in the Child and Midwifery Poly room. In that room, they saw a child on his mother's lap doing a nutrition consultation.
