JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian said that the government hopes that the discussion of the Draft Law (RUU) on the Province of the Special Region of Jakarta (DKJ) can be resolved immediately, to provide legal certainty regarding the existence of the capital city of Jakarta so that the status is clear.
"We must be consistent with the mandate in the IKN Law (State Capital), Law Number 3 of 2022 Article 41 paragraph 2, which mandates that the revision of the Special Region of Jakarta Law is carried out no later than 2 years after the IKN Law is promulgated," Tito said in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 13.
He explained that the IKN Law was passed on February 15, 2022, so that the revision of the Law on DKJ should have been completed on February 15, 2024. Therefore, the DPR RI was encouraged to immediately complete the discussion of the revision of the regulation.
