A Family Suicide Jumps Apartment In Jakut, Police Investigate Pinjol's Motive

JAKARTA - The police are investigating the motive of a family who decided to jump off the 22nd floor at the Teluk Intan Apartment, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, Saturday, March 9. It is known that they have an online loan debt (Pinjol)

The Head of the Penjaringan Police, Kompol Agus Ady Wijaya, said that his party is currently still examining witnesses and CCTV at the scene.

"It's still being investigated (motives due to online loans)," Agus said in a short message, Sunday, March 10.

Agus said that for the statements of temporary witnesses, the victim died of suicide.

"What is certain is that the motive is suicide. Just an affirmation, one family. I've lived here for 2 years, I haven't lived here for 2 years," he said.

Economic Difficulties

The testimony of Neighbors who did not want to be named said the family was indeed down with their financial condition. They even wanted an online loan (pinjol), but were refused. Because of the debt in other applications that have not been repaid.

"Then he once talked to my wife that he couldn't borrow online anymore. So I thought there was also an online loan, maybe yes, because when Covid was he had my wife's number, buying food, or what eggs, Covid was difficult, right," he said.

In addition, he suspected it was due to pressure from debt collection. This was strengthened after he saw that an unknown person (OTK) came to them and collect debts.

"I've seen people collect him, right, people whose names are billing debts, there must be a little roughness or something, from there I know (because) the economy," he said, Saturday, March 9, evening.
