Kendari City Government Prioritizes Post-Flood Infrastructure Improvement

KENDARI - Kendari City Government (Pemkot), Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) focused on improving after the flash flood that hit Kendari City on Wednesday (6/3) last night.

Acting (Pj) Kendari Mayor Muhammad Yusup said he was very concerned about the disaster that befell the area and would do as much as possible to clean up the mud material that was still scattered everywhere.

"Certain data from the damage that occurs is still being calculated, starting from the houses of residents who are heavily damaged, moderately damaged and lightly damaged so that they will further repair, of course, gradually and helping hand," said Yusup, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, March 9.

According to him, the disaster problem is not only the government's business through related parties but is a joint matter for all parties to be involved, be it from the business world, the government, academics, and the media as they are, to work together to find a way out to solve the disaster problems that occurred in Kendari City.

"For now, we are focusing on collecting data on the damage that occurs, starting from damage, the number of victims and material losses, casualties are still being recorded," he said.

He said no one wanted a natural disaster to occur but because this is talking about nature, no one can regulate and guess.

For this reason, the process of revamping infrastructure affected by flooding will later be adjusted to the existing funds and carried out in stages.

In addition, Yusup also hopes that there will be mutual assistance from all parties in improving infrastructure affected by the flood because if you only hope that the APBD funds will not be enough.

"Once again I say that the helping hand from the existing parties can make this recovery and improvement run quickly and smoothly," he said.
