KPU Denies Allegations Of Ganjar-Mahfud's Voice Locked 17 Percent

JAKARTA - KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari denied the statement by the candidate for vice president number 3 Mahfud MD regarding the intentional algorithm that was deliberately used to lock Ganjar-Mahfud's voice to a maximum of 17 percent.

"The KPU has never set the votes for A, person B and so on, this party is the party. From the start, it didn't exist because this vote was direct," said Hasyim as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 8.

According to him, the one who determines the vote acquisition is voters who exercise their voting rights on Wednesday (14/2) voting day.

Hasyim emphasized that the KPU could not control the number of voters who attended the polling stations (TPS), especially the vote acquisition which was the result of voting.

He explained that the vote in the form of votes and those converted to percentages were purely from vote counting in stages from polling stations.

"So, if there is information, news or statements like that, the KPU denies that the KPU has never set a lock, has never locked, has never targeted certain parties, certain pairs of candidates, from the start there must be so many votes, nothing," he said.

Previously, vice presidential candidate number 3 Mahfud MD responded to the statement by the Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto regarding the existence of an algorithm that was deliberately used to lock Ganjar-Mahfud's voice to a maximum of 17 percent.

According to him, the alleged lockdown of votes had emerged before the 2024 General Election.

"Yes, let it be processed in the community, it's also been a long time, before the election it was already there. Before the voting, the issue was already there," said Mahfud.

The former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs said the issue of the Ganjar-Mahfud pair's vote acquisition since before the 2024 General Election was locked at the same number.

"It's been locked a lot and the numbers (of votes) are exactly. It's just a matter of proof, we'll see," he concluded.
