East Java Police Arrest 9 Perpetrators Of Theft Who Acted In 23 Locations

The East Java Regional Police arrested nine perpetrators of motor vehicle theft who acted in 23 locations.

Deputy Director of Criminal Investigation at the East Java Police, AKBP Pitter Yanottama, explained that the nine perpetrators, each initial M, were arrested in Pasuruan; F was the perpetrator of violent theft and theft of motorized vehicles in 2021.

"The Jatanras team revealed the first violent theft at the Winongan Police, Pasuruan Police. The first crime scene was revealed by the Jatanras Team in Gedok Hamlet, Sipanpan Village, Winongan District, Pasuruan Regency," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 8.

At the crime scene, four perpetrators tried to seize the motorbike driven by the victim.

The four perpetrators who had stolen the motorbike were shouted at by the victim and residents so they managed to escape with a stolen motorbike.

"The incident went viral and was responded to by the Jatanras Team, then the suspect's initials M was arrested," he said.

After being arrested, M was then interrogated and found that M also carried out theft activities with weight, theft with violence and theft of motorized vehicles from other groups that had been carried out during the period 2020 and 2021.

Of the suspect M, the police finally arrested nine other perpetrators, including collectors.

"The results of the development are 18 crime scenes of motor vehicle theft, including theft with weight and five violent theft crime scenes," he said.

Of the nine perpetrators, 23 motorized vehicles and several other evidences were also secured, such as sharp weapons of the type of sickle, helmet, and T key used to steal motorbikes.

For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 365 paragraph 1 paragraph 2-1, 2 of the Criminal Code for violent theft, while the suspect of theft with weight was subject to Article 363 of the Criminal Code, and the suspect was charged with Article 480 of the Criminal Code.
