Police Chronology Arrests Baby Disposal Under Bridge In Lampung

BandAR LAMPUNG - Sukarame Police, Bandar Lampung arrested the perpetrators of throwing the bodies of a newborn. The perpetrator who was arrested was the biological mother of the baby's body which was found by a scavenger under a bridge in the Way Halim area, Bandar Lampung.

The investigation by the Sukarame Police regarding the case of dumping the baby's body under a bridge in the Way Halim area, Bandar Lampung has paid off.

The police managed to arrest RA (21), a resident of Wiyono Village, Gedong Tataan, Pesawaran Regency, Lampung.

RA is the biological mother of the baby's corpse that was dumped under the bridge on Wednesday afternoon.

RA, who works as a steward at an electronic store in Bandar Lampung, was arrested by the police at his brother's house in Sukadanaham Village, Tanjung Karang Barat Bandar Lampung on Friday (1/3/2024) at around 02.00 am WIB.

From the results of the examination, it was revealed that the baby was dumped by the perpetrator because he died after being born by RA. The baby is the result of an extramarital relationship with a man with the initials AD (30).

RA gave an independent delivery in the bathroom of her brother's house on Monday (26/2/2024). When she managed to get the baby girl out, RA tried to lift the baby by taking the baby's leg. However, RA's handheld was released so that the baby entered the basin filled with water.

As a result of being included in the water basin, the newborn died. Seeing that the baby was dead, the perpetrator put the baby in a white baskom wrapped in a red shirt.

The perpetrator then came out of the bathroom and took a black plastic bag and a graydust bag.

In the bathroom, RA immediately put the baby's body, which was wrapped in red clothes, into black plastic anddust bags. He then stored the baby's body in the prayer room for two days.

Two days later, when leaving for work, RA took the baby's body which had been wrapped on a motorbike and then threw it under the Urip Sumoharjo River, Way Halim, Bandar Lampung on Wednesday (28/2/2024) at around 08.00 WIB.

Hours after being dumped by RA, the baby's body was found by a scavenger looking for used goods.

In addition to arresting the perpetrator RA, the police confiscated evidence of a black crackle bag, a gray dust bag, a red t-shirt with the words Cosmos, a white basin, and one red sports shorts.

Sukarame Police Chief, Bandar Lampung, Kompol Warsito said the case of dumping the baby's body under the bridge was successfully revealed armed with a colored t-shirt that read Cosmos which was used to wrap the baby's body before being thrown into the river.

"Armed with the t-shirt, we will trace it. Thank God we found a bright spot in the case of dumping the baby," said Kompol Warsito.

According to Kompol Warsito, when giving birth to a baby from a relationship outside of the marriage, RA panicked so that the baby was released and entered the basin filled with water until he died.

"The perpetrator of RA panicked because she gave birth to a baby resulting from her illicit relationship with her lover," said Kompol Warsito.

It is known, currently RA is undergoing medical treatment at the Bhayangkara Regional Police Hospital Lampung because he is suspected of having an infection in his womb.

As a result of his actions, perpetrator RA was charged with Article 80 in conjunction with Article 76C of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2024 concerning amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection with a maximum prison sentence of 12 years.
