MEULABOH - The smog is thought to have originated from the location of forest and land fires that hit Meulaboh, the capital of West Aceh Regency.

"The haze phenomenon originated from the location of land fires in Peunaga Cut Ujong Village, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency," said the Coordinator of the Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) of the West Aceh District Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in Meulaboh, quoted by Antara, Monday, 1 March.

According to him, the smog from BPBD monitoring has not disturbed community activities, including visibility.

To avoid health problems, said Mashuri, West Aceh BPBD appealed to people who are active outside the home to continue wearing masks.

It is hoped that this will prevent the community from disturbing the smoke haze originating from the location of land fires in the area.

"We are still monitoring the phenomenon of the smog, so far it has not disturbed the activities of residents," said Mashuri.

He emphasized that the efforts to extinguish the fire at the peatland area in the Peunaga Cut Ujong Village, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency, were still ongoing until Monday afternoon.

The extinguishing effort, he said, involved personnel from the West Aceh BPBD, TNI, Police, volunteers, and helped the community.
