JAKARTA - The Serang City BPBD recorded 15 flood locations hit the city area after heavy rains on Saturday (2/3) night at around 22.00 WIB.

Head of BPBD Serang City Diat Hermawan, in Serang, Banten, Saturday night, said the flood location occurred at 15 points and 6 inundation points.

"At those 15 points, the water level is varied, located in Serang and Cipocok, while in the Gabus Alley the flood height is up to one meter or the waist of an adult," he said.

Diat said that so far only residents of Gang Gabus, Kaligandu Village, Serang District have just been evacuated. Meanwhile, several other residents at different flood points prefer to stay at home.

His party has offered for the evacuation process, but residents still choose to wait at their homes.

"We have evacuated residents in the Gabus Alley, but residents at different flood sites chose to stay at home," he said, quoted by Antara.

He said his party deployed officers scattered at every point of the flood, including five people in the field, five people in the shophouse for information supply to the field team while there were two boats in the field.

Kasman, a resident of Gang Gabus, explained that the flood began after heavy rains that flushed since 18.00 WIB.

"At around 18.00 WIB it rained quite heavily, and at 21.00 WIB it just subsided a bit, the water started to enter the house," he said.

Kasman said that flood events in his area have often occurred every rainy season since the Sindangheula Dam.

"Since there was this dam, it has been flooded," he said.

In that incident, Kasman estimated a flood height of almost one meter.

"It's almost a meter high, it's often here every time there is heavy rain, it often floods," he said.

Based on monitoring at the location at 00.00 WIB, puddles occurred along the access road to Rau Main Market, Serang City. As a result, a number of two-wheeled vehicles broke down in the middle of the road and were pushed by residents.

Meanwhile, today, at 10.09 WIB, flood conditions on a number of roads and residential areas have begun to recede.
