6 Sick KPPS Members Get Compensation From Pangkalpinang KPU

The General Election Commission (KPU) of Pangkalpinang City, Bangka Belitung Islands Province provided compensation to six officials of the polling group (KPPS) who were sick while on duty to make the 2024 General Election a success in the area. The amount of compensation given to sick KPPS members varies because it depends on the illness suffered.

"Today, we handed over compensation of Rp. 16 million to six members of the KPPS who were sick while carrying out their duties at the TPS," said the Coordinator of the Socialization Division for Voter Education and Human Resources of the Pangkalpinang City KPU in Pangkalpinang, Saturday, March 2.

He gave an example of a member of the KPPS who was lightly ill or did not undergo hospitalization receiving compensation of Rp. 2 million, while moderate illness or undergoing outpatient treatment or hospitalization of Rp. 3 million to Rp. 4 million.

Members of the KPPS are seriously ill so they must receive treatment at hospitals outside the region, he said, also receive compensation in accordance with the category of illness experienced.

"Currently there are members of the KPPS who are sick and must be referred to a hospital in Jakarta and the amount of compensation that will be given later is adjusted to the category of illness he suffered," he said, quoted from ANTARA.

In providing this compensation, he said, sick KPPS members must complete the administration of medical expenses at the hospital. This is in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

"We have handed over compensation to five members of the KPPS who are sick, while another person who is still undergoing treatment at the Jakarta hospital is in process," he said.

He hopes that KPPS members will not see the nominal value of this compensation and compensation can ease the burden on the family.

"This is the responsibility of the KPU to KPPS members who have worked hard on voting day and vote counting at polling stations, so that the implementation of democratic parties in this area runs safely, smoothly, orderly, and peacefully," he said.
