JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Marshal TNI (Ret.) Hadi Tjahjanto ensured that Australian Ambassador to RI Nikki Penvelope (PENNY) Australia remained a strategic partner for Indonesia.

During his meeting with Ambassador Penny, Hadi ensured that the two countries would continue to increase the cooperation that had been established so far.

"Australia is Indonesia's strategic partner, so it will continue to strengthen the cooperative relations that have been established so far," Hadi said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 29.

During the meeting, Hadi also asked Penny to continue to communicate intensely with the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia to explore opportunities for other cooperation between Indonesia and Australia.

Penny, at the meeting, admitted that so far the various problems faced by the two countries could be resolved through close communication channels between ministries, between heads of institutions, as well as all technical officials of the Indonesian Government with representatives from the Australian Government.

Therefore, Penny hopes for Tjahjanto's communication regarding his inauguration as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The Australian Minister of Home Affairs conveyed his ministry's commitment to continue close cooperation with the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

Hadi told that when he served as commander of the TNI, his relationship with the Australian Government was closely established.

"I was also awarded the honorary award of the Order of Australia (Military Division) and delivered directly by Ambassador Penny," said Hadi.

Hadi also left greetings to Angus Campbell, who currently serves as commander of the Australian Armed Forces (ADF).

At the end of the meeting, Penny gave a souvenir to Hadi, a photo showing him walking around Adisutjipto Air Base, Yogyakarta, in 2019, riding a Jeep with Angus Campbell.

During the meeting, Hadi was accompanied by the Deputy for Foreign Political Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Rina P. Soemarno and Assistant Deputy for Multilateral Cooperation Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Adi Winarso.
