Building Infrastructure In 242 3T Locations, PLN Successfully Delivered 16 Thousand Households Of Electricity

JAKARTA - PLN continues to ensure the flow of electricity to all corners of the country. Through the village electricity program, PLN has succeeded in providing electricity to 242 foremost, remote and underdeveloped (3T) areas in West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) from 2017 to 2020.

The total costs incurred for the electricity program reached Rp. 574 billion.

General Manager of the West Kalimantan Regional Main Unit (UIW), Ari Dartomo, said that to provide electricity to 242 locations, PLN built a Medium Voltage Network (JTM) along 880 kilometers of Circuit (kms), 526.2 kms of Low Voltage Network (JTR), and distribution substations with a total capacity of more than 21 thousand kiloVolt Ampere (kVA).

Through this village electricity program, in three years, PLN managed to electrify more than 16 thousand households in 3T areas who previously had no electricity. Ari explained that building a network to the 3T area is different from building a network in urban areas. With limited terrain and access, development is certainly more difficult and the costs are much greater.

"In the city the investment is only Rp1-2 million rupiah, in the 3T area if we calculate the average investment to electrify one family head is around Rp.33 million. But we still do all of that so that people in the 3T area can enjoy electricity from PLN," he said. , in a written statement received by VOI, Saturday, February 27.

According to Ari, of the 242 total areas that have received electricity, 147 of them have just received electricity. PLN is also expanding the electricity network to remote locations in 95 villages that were already electrified.

"This development is our commitment to realizing energy justice by providing electricity to all corners of the country," he said.

Gradually, said Ari, PLN will continue to develop electricity infrastructure in areas that have not yet received PLN electricity.

"In 2021, PLN plans to electrify 103 villages that have not received PLN electricity and expansion in one village that has previously received PLN electricity. Meanwhile in 2022 to 2024, PLN will electrify 427 new villages and expand in 46 villages," he said. .

Ari said that PLN will also encourage the utilization of local energy potential, especially new and renewable energy (EBT) to power 3T areas.

In 2024, through the village electricity program, PLN plans to build a solar power plant with a total capacity of more than 59 thousand kilowatt-peak (kWp) spread over 244 locations in West Kalimantan with a budget requirement of Rp. 5 trillion.

"We will also continue to encourage the potential for environmentally friendly local energy, so that electricity production will be cheaper and more efficient," he said.

With this effort, said Ari, it is targeted that all villages and families in West Kalimantan will get electricity from PLN by 2024. PLN hopes that the presence of reliable electricity can move the economy and improve the standard of living of people in the 3T area.
