CIANJUR - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) deployed dozens of volunteers guarding the water tourism object in the Cianjur Regency area. This effort is in anticipation and quick handling of potential disasters in line with high rainfall.

Head of BPBD Cianjur Asep Sukma Wijaya said that the information received by his party from BMKG heavy rain with high intensity will hit most of the Cianjur area until March 2024, so vigilance must increase.

"Including the many water tourism objects in the southern region of Cianjur, ranging from waterfalls to the southern coast which are visited by many tourists from various regions, especially before the fasting month," he said in Cianjur, Sunday, February 25, as reported by Antara.

Dozens of Disaster Resilient Officers and Volunteers (Retana) were alerted to water tourism objects as an effort to anticipate, as well as carry out surveillance and urge tourists not to approach the shoreline or waterfalls when the water discharge increases with heavy rains.

Officers and volunteers will coordinate with tourist attraction managers to appeal to tourists to find a safe place when there is a flood or natural disaster caused by heavy rains.

"Relawans will ask managers to increase supervision and appeals for tourists who come not to approach the fall of water in waterfall or beachside tourism when waves are high as heavy rains fall," he said.

Curug Manager Citambur Sundara Saputra said the level of visits to waterfall attractions since the last few weeks has increased, especially on weekends ahead of the arrival of the fasting month and dominated by local and out-of-town tourists.

"We are increasing coordination with various parties, including BPBD Cianjur volunteers, Forkopimcam, and TNI/Polri officers, along with the high number of visits every weekend accompanied by heavy rain, tourists are asked not to play with water when it rains," he said.

His party increased the number of officers consisting of local youth organizations to supervise tourists to ensure they were on vacation safely and comfortably, including asking them to rise from the waterfall flow when the water discharge increased.
