The General Election Commission (KPU) of West Java (Jabar) has ensured that the treatment is in accordance with the regulations for the death of election officers in West Java, which to date totals 50 people.

West Java KPU Public Relations Chaerulman Setia Nugraha revealed that his party guarantees that it will provide compensation to victims who die and who are sick in accordance with regulations made for the 2024 General Election Law.

"According to the regulations, compensation will be given from the local government, the district and city KPU, and until now we are still inventorying data that comes to us. Those who are sick will also receive compensation, according to the law regulations," said Chaerulman at the West Java KPU Office in Bandung, Sunday, February 25, which was confiscated by Antara.

Chaerulman revealed that the West Java Provincial election organizing agency recorded as many as 50 election officers in 2024 died after the voting, consisting of 28 polling groups (KPPS), 20 security and order officers (PAM) polling stations (TPS), and two voting committees (PPS).

Meanwhile, for election officials who are sick, Chaerulman admitted that he could not comment more, because until now his party is still conducting data inventory for election officials who are sick or have health problems due to the 2024 election.

Previously, the West Java activist Alliance visited the West Java General Election Commission (KPU) office with the aim that this institution would give maximum appreciation to the KPPS and other organizers, especially those who were sick and even died.

Chairman of the West Java Activist Alliance Indrajit Rai Garibaldi said the action was followed by dozens of people, to emphasize their stance on being with the KPPS, through moral support and wreaths for the performance of election officials who were very instrumental during the vote on February 14, 2024.

"We consider that if there is no KPPS, the 2024 General Election will not run. Currently, we also know that KPPS members are sick and died. We have also conducted a study, therefore we are with the KPPS," said Indrajit Rai at the West Java KPU Office.

For this reason, Chaerulman appreciated the demands of the alliance consisting of various elements from universities in Bandung such as Pasundan University, Widyatama University, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati, IT Telkom, University of Indonesian Education, and Binus.

According to him, what was demanded by the West Java activist alliance was a moral injection for the KPU to do better things in the future.

"Alhamdulillah, for us, the injection of positive energy for us is still in the process of recapitulating vote count in the sub-district until now," he concluded.
