Semarang Flood, Residents Carrying Bodies Using Boats

JAKARTA - Joint officers used a boat to carry the body of a Trimulyo resident, Semarang City, Central Java, who will be buried in the midst of the floods that hit the area, Friday, February 26.

Secretary of the Semarang City BPBD, Winarsono, confirmed the funeral for the body of a resident named Sukarjo who had to go through the flood in Genuk District.

"Earlier, assisted by BPBD officers and volunteers," said Winarsono to reporters reported by Antara.

Officers prepared two boats to transport the bodies and family members across the flood.

According to Winarsono, the bodies were carried by boat to a shallower access road before being transported by ambulance.

Sukarjo's body was buried in the Nyangkringan public cemetery, Genuk, Semarang City.

The heavy rains that have occurred since the last few days have caused parts of the Genuk District to be still flooded.

Floods also still inundate part of Jalan Kaligawe, making it impossible for small vehicles or motorbikes to pass.
