Vespa Wasp Nest Evacuation Officer In Bogor That Killed Marbot Masjid

Joint officers from the Fire and Rescue Service (DPKP) and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bogor City, West Java, evacuated a wasp nest in Kedungjaya Village which caused a resident with the initials UD (50 years old) to be stung to death.

Head of the Bogor City DPKP Fire and Rescue Division, M. Ade Nugraha, in Bogor City, Thursday, said joint officers were deployed with complete personal protective equipment (PPE) to evacuate the wasp nest on the roof of a resident's house.

"It's been about 20 minutes of handling. So the position is very difficult to reach. It's about 10 meters above the altitude and that's a very difficult foothold," he explained as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 22.

Moreover, said Ade, the size of the affinistic Vespa wasp nest is quite large. It is estimated that the wasp nest has been growing for years because the number of colonies is estimated to have reached thousands.

The distribution is also very large. So if it is not handled immediately, it will increase the number very quickly. Alhamdulillahh can be handled," said Ade.

In addition to using PPE, continued Ade, officers also used stairs to grab the roof of the house. While being careful because the evacuation location is on the roof of a resident's house.

He also asked residents around the scene to turn off their lights during the evacuation process, because the wasp is an insect that is sensitive to light.

"It is feared that if the wasp came out of the nest, it would go straight to the light," he said.

Ade appealed to residents to be more careful in handling wasp nests. It is better to contact the fire department so as not to cause casualties.

"It's better to contact the fire department and not handle it yourself so that the victim doesn't fall again," he said.

On Wednesday (21/2/2024) a resident in RT 1/RW 6, Kedungjaya Village, Bogor City, West Java with the initials UD (50 years old) died from being stung by a wasp. The victim was stung by a wasp on Wednesday afternoon, and died in the evening.
