Hadi Tjahjanto Officially Becomes Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs To Replace Mahfud MD, AHY Now Minister Of ATR/BPN

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially inaugurated former TNI Commander Marshal (Ret.) Hadi Tjahjanto and Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono as ministers. The inauguration was held at the State Palace, Jakarta.

From the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Hadi was appointed as Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) while AHY became Minister of ATR/BPN. Presidential Decree Number 34 P/2024 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the Minister of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet for the 2019-2024 Period was read out first by the Deputy for Administration and Apparatus of the Ministry of State Affairs, Nanik Purwanti, before taking the oath of office.

Furthermore, President Jokowi led the process of oath of office. Hadi and AHY followed the words spoken accompanied by clergy.

"By Allah, I swear that I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will carry out all laws and regulations as straight as possible for the sake of my service to the nation and state," the oath of office said.

"That in carrying out my duties and positions, I will uphold the ethics of my position to work as well as possible with a full sense of responsibility," they continued.

In this procession, a number of officials were present, including Wantimpres Wiranto, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto. Then also present was Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.

Next, the procession will continue with the signing of the minutes. Hadi is now officially replacing Mahfud MD who resigned because he did not want to have a conflict of interest when running as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres).

For information, Mahfud in the 2024 presidential election is paired with Ganjar Pranowo. Both were promoted by the PDI-P (PDIP) and supported by the United Development Party (PPP), the Hanura Party, and the Perindo Party.
