Central General Hospital (RSUP) M Djamil Padang, West Sumatra, received four victims of burns suspected of being the result of a gas explosion in the PT Semen Padang factory.
"The hospital is also sad because there are more accidents and gas explosions at the PT Semen Padang factory," said Director of Medical and Nursing Services at RSUP M Djamil Padang Dr. Dr. Bestari Jaka Budiman in Padang, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, February 20.
His party confirmed that there were four victims suspected of having worked accidents and had received intensive care at the Emergency Unit (UGD) of RSUP M Djamil Padang.
"The victim suffered burns," he said.
Two of the four victims suffered burns of 20 to 30 percent, while the other two victims suffered burns to their hands.
When rushed to the hospital, the four victims were in stable condition. However, specifically for the two victims who suffered serious burns, they received more intensive attention and treatment from the medical team.
Based on information received by RSUP M Djamil Padang, the fire was allegedly caused by the explosion of nitrogen gas in the oldest cement factory area in Southeast Asia.
Overall, his party received reports that there were five victims but only four were rushed to the hospital.
"There was information earlier but one person does not need to be referred," he said.
The hospital has prepared a number of anticipatory steps to deal with the victims, including alerting the plastic surgery team. "We also ensure that treatment rooms for the victims are available," he said.
