KPK Summons The Chairman Of The North Maluku Gerindra DPD And The Son Of Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba In The Bribery Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled an examination of the son of the inactive North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba, M. Thoriq Kasuba. He was summoned as a witness in the bribery case for procurement and project permits that ensnared his father.

"Located at the KPK's Red and White building," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters in a written statement, Tuesday, February 20.

Thoriq, who was called by the KPK as a private party, was examined along with three other witnesses. They are Muhaimin Syarif who is the Chairman of the North Maluku Gerindra Party DPD; Civil Servant for the Procurement Bureau of Goods and Services, Arafat Talaba; and former Member of the North Maluku Provincial DPRD, Elang Kusnandar Prijadikusuma.

The material for the examination of the four witnesses is not yet known. However, they are suspected of knowing the practice of bribery committed by Abdul Gani Kasuba.

Previously reported, Abdul Gani Kasuba became a suspect along with five other people. They are the Head of the North Maluku Housing and Settlement Office Adnan Hasanudin, the Head of the North Maluku PUPR Office Daud Ismail, and the Head of the North Maluku BPPBJ Ridwan Arsan.

Then he was named a suspect, namely Ramadhan Ibrahim who is Abdul Gani's aide and two private parties Stevi Thomas and Kristian Wuisan.

In this case, KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata said Abdul Gani was suspected of having participated in arranging the winner of infrastructure projects in North Maluku whose money came from the APBD. The budget ceiling reaches more than Rp500 billion.

"From the project, AGK determines the amount of deposits from contractors," said Alexander.

Abdul Gani then asked his subordinates to manipulate the work as if it had been completed by more than 50 percent. "With the aim that the disbursement of the budget can be done immediately," said Alexander.

Abdul did not directly receive money from the contractors. He uses a holding account held by his trusted people, said Alexander.

"As initial preliminary evidence that went into the holding account in the amount of Rp. 2.2 billion. The money was used for AGK's personal interests in the form of payment for lodging at hotels and paying for the health concerned," said Alexander.
