KPU Says Ad Hoc Officers In The 2024 Election Died Reaches 71 People

Chairman of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari said the ad hoc officers who died while working during the 2024 election stage reached 71 people.

Data from the ad hoc officer who died was taken from Wednesday, February 14 to Sunday, February 18.

"Based on our monitoring, on the status or situation of our friends, our friends, the election organizers of the ad hoc body, especially the peak season, which has a heavy burden from February 14 to February 18, 2024 at 23.58. In our records, 71 people died," said Hasyim during a press conference at the Ministry of Health, Jakarta, Monday, February 19, which was confiscated by Antara.

He detailed that of the 71 people who died, there was one person who was a member of the sub-district election committee (PPK). Then, the members of the voting committee (PPS) at the village/kelurahan level were about 4 people.

There are 42 members of the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) at the TPS level. Then, members of the Community Protection Unit (Linmas) who died about 24 people while maintaining security for voting activities and vote counting.

Meanwhile, there were 4,567 sick people, with details at the sub-district level or PPK members 136 people. At the PPS level, 696 people and KPPS there were 3,371 people. "For Linmas who are sick, there are 364 people," he said.

Previously, Saturday 17 February, the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari, admitted that he had prepared compensation for ad hoc officers who died while working during the 2024 election stage.

"Yes, compensation has been prepared," said Hasyim in his statement in Jakarta, Saturday, February 17.

He explained that compensation for work accidents to death for election ad hoc organizers is regulated based on KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 8 of 2022 and technically regulated in KPU Decree Number 59 of 2023.

The amount of the compensation has also been regulated based on the Letter of the Minister of Finance S-647/MK.02/2022, through the Other Input Fee Units (SBML) for General Election Stages and Election Stages.

"For the amount of compensation amounting to Rp36,000,000 and for funeral expenses assistance amounting to Rp10,000,000," he said.
