DEMAK- KPU Demak Regency, Central Java, hopes that the Demak Population and Civil Registration Service (Disdukcapil) will help print electronic identity cards (KTP) for residents who lost their identity cards due to flooding so that they could exercise their voting rights at the follow-up vote.

"For this reason, all village heads whose villages will hold further voting to write to the Demak Disdukcapil to request the issuance of electronic ID cards for their citizens who lost their identity cards due to flooding," said Demak District KPU member, Data and Information Planning Division Nur Hidayah in Demak, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 19.

Because the KTP, he said, was used for its citizens during the follow-up voting which was scheduled for February 24, 2024.

He also reminded Disdukcapil Demak not to temporarily process printing of electronic ID cards for residents who propose to change addresses, especially to 10 villages in Karanganyar District which will hold further voting.

This, he said, was to prevent the possibility of mass mobilization efforts to provide voting support, even though in their place of origin they had exercised their voting rights in the simultaneous elections on February 14, 2024.

A total of 10 villages that will hold follow-up elections in Karanganyar District, namely Wonokatingal, Cangkring, Cangkring Rembang, Undaan Kidul, Undaan Lor, Ngemplik Wetan, Wonorejo, Karanganyar, Ketanjung, and Jatirejo villages, with a total of 114 polling stations.

Village heads in the 10 villages were also asked to coordinate with a number of parties, especially the TNI/Polri and the Demak Regency Government regarding the readiness for further voting, including ensuring the location of polling candidates who are safe from flooding.

"This includes the readiness of human resources, electronic ID cards for all citizens who have the right to vote, and the certainty of the location of the TPS whether it is safe from flooding or not," he said.

According to him, even if it is estimated that the voting day is still not safe from flooding, it is necessary to coordinate with the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) for the relocation of polling stations.

Head of Karanganyar Ungguh Sub-district, Prakoso, revealed that the Demak Disdukcapil had helped facilitate the issuance of new electronic ID cards for residents who lost their ID cards due to flooding.

"It's just that residents have to come to the Demak Disdukcapil office because the Karanganyar District office is still flooded, including equipment for printing their electronic ID cards," he said.

Of the 10 villages that will carry out further voting, most have receded from the flood inundation. Meanwhile, there are still a few inundation villages, including in Cangkring Rembang, Wonokestingal, Ngemplik Wetan, Wonorejo, Karanganyar, Ketanjung, and Jatirejo villages.

To reduce flood inundation, he said, a water suction pump engine was deployed at a number of flood inundation points, so that during the follow-up voting it was hoped that it would recede.
