19 RTs Affected By Floods In Tangerang Regency, Dozens Of Residents Evacuated

The rain that has flushed Tangerang Regency since a few days ago has flooded four villages in two sub-districts, namely Tanjung Burung Village, Tanjung Pasir, the three of which are in Teluknaga District and Keramat Village in Pakuhaji District.

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Tangerang Regency, Banten, said as many as 22 residents of Tanjung Burung Village, Teluknaga District, fled due to flooding inundated their houses on Saturday.

"We evacuated about 22 residents from the flood location, they are vulnerable residents such as the elderly and children," said Head of BPBD Tangerang Regency Ujat Sudrajat in Tangerang, Saturday, February 17, quoted from ANTARA.

He revealed that the two sub-districts affected by the disaster contained 5,413 people from 19 neighborhood units (RT).

"This flood is indeed from river water that overflows into residential areas. In total there are three villages with two sub-districts, a total of 5,413 people," he said.

He revealed that natural disasters were flooded due to high rainfall intensity, thereby increasing the volume of local rivers overflowing.

For the current situation, he said, there are still some residents who choose to stay in their respective homes while waiting for the water to recede.

"Some are still staying at home, because the water is starting to recede," he said.

He added that in an effort to deal with the disaster, the local government through the local BPBD has now opened several refugee posts for affected residents. And a number of logistical assistance in meeting the needs of the victims has also been distributed.

"We have distributed logistical assistance and evacuation equipment. Likewise, we built a kitchen to meet the needs of the victims," he said.
