JAKARTA - The Commander of the National Campaign Team (TKN) Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Budisatrio Djiwandono, has dismissed the narrative that the free lunch program will only be implemented in 2029.

Budisatrio said the narrative was misinformation that was deliberately spread by other parties. He also mentioned that the free lunch program started soon after Prabowo-Gibran was inaugurated as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.

The issue that mentions the free lunch and milk program will only be implemented in 2029 is not true. This program is Prabowo-Gibran's main program and will be implemented immediately after Pak Prabowo and Mas Gibran are sworn in as president and vice president," said Budisatrio in a press release received by ANTARA in Jakarta, Friday.

He said the emergence of the narrative began with his misinterpreted words. Budisatrio straightened out that his true statement was that the lunch program had only reached its maximum target by 2029.

"My statement at the beginning of December was cut and the context removed, as if I stated that the free lunch and milk program would only be implemented in 2029. Whereas what is true is that the free lunch program has only reached its maximum target of reaching 82.9 million children by 2029," he said.

The free lunch program will be carried out in stages and on a priority scale once Prabowo and Gibran are sworn in.

"So, indirectly 82.9 million children will immediately get this program in 2025. The areas that are most likely and need it will be prioritized first in the first year," said Budisatrio.

The number of recipients of the free lunch program, he continued, will increase every year to reach the maximum target of 82.9 million children by 2029.

In the following years, 2026, 2027, and so on the number will continue to be increased. So that reaching the maximum target of 82.9 million children will receive free lunch and milk programs in 2029. Now, my statement in this section is cut and eliminated," said Budisatrio.

The deputy chairman of the Gerindra Party also said that the TKN had monitored the misinformation and was deliberately spread during a calm period before voting day.

We suspect this is part of misinformation that was deliberately disseminated during the quiet period of the last campaign. Even though my statement that was cut was a statement on December 4, 2023. Then it was reappeared on February 13, (2024), more than two months later," he said.

TKN chose not to respond to the narrative because it respects the essence of calm. "But because until now it is still circulating, we finally decided to clarify," he said.
