Palembang Floods Due To 2.5 Hours Of Heavy Rain, City Government Orders Transportation Agency To Overcome Congestion

SUMSEL - The City Government (Pemkot) of South Sumatra Palembang (Sumsel) is trying to break down traffic congestion on highways that are flooded due to heavy rain for 2.5 hours.

The acting Mayor (Walkot) of Palembang Ratu Dewa said various strategies were carried out to overcome flooding so as not to interfere with public activities.

"I ordered members of the Palembang Transportation Agency to go to the field to help overcome congestion that occurred due to puddles that caused flooding," said Ratu when confirmed in Palembang, Thursday, February 15, as reported by Antara.

In addition, the Queen has also deployed a special flood management team through the PUPR Service to immediately deal with floods.

"We have mobilized a flood management team from the PUPR service to immediately deal with floods," he said.

Meanwhile, several street points in Palembang City were flooded by heavy rains that occurred for almost 2.5 hours.

The flood even disrupted traffic flow at several points with water levels of up to 40 cm.

Traffic congestion had occurred, including in the Simpang area of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD, Jalan Captain Arivai, and several Poros roads.

According to motorists, the traffic jam lasted quite a long time and until the vehicle could barely move.
