President Appoints Luhut As Head Of National Game Development Steering Director

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo appointed Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan as Head of Steering Team for the Acceleration of National Game Industry Development.

Luhut's appointment is as stated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 19 of 2024 concerning the Acceleration of National Game Industry Development which was stipulated and signed by Jokowi on February 12, 2024.

As a copy of the Presidential Decree quoted by ANTARA through the jdih.setneg.go.id page, Tuesday, February 13, Article 5 paragraph (1) states that in the implementation of accelerating the development of the national game industry, a National Game Industry Development Acceleration Team consisting of ministries/agencies was formed.

Article 5 paragraph (2) states that the National Game Industry Development Acceleration Team consists of daily directors and implementers

Furthermore, Article 5 paragraph (3) explains the composition of the National Game Industry Development Acceleration Team consisting of:

Head of Steering Committee: Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment.

Deputy Chairperson Of Steering Committee: Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs; Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs; Coordinating Minister for Human Development and

Culture; Presidential Chief of Staff; Governor of Bank Indonesia; and Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of the Daily is the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, who is accompanied by the Minister of Communication and Information Technology as Deputy Chief Executive of the Daily.

Daily Executive members consist of the Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Law and Human Rights, Minister of Finance, Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Minister of Manpower, Minister of Industry; Minister of Trade, Minister of Planning for National Development/Head of the National Development Planning Agency, Minister of Youth and Sports, as well as Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency.

In the Presidential Decree, it is also explained that the position of Governor of Bank Indonesia and Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority as Deputy Chairperson of Steering Committee does not reduce the authority and independence of the implementation of their respective duties and functions based on the provisions of the legislation.

The National Game Industry Development Acceleration Team has the task of coordinating and synchronizing, directing steps and policies to solve problems and obstacles, formulating strategies and implementing comprehensive public communication, monitoring and evaluating, and providing recommendations regarding changes to the National Game Industry Development Acceleration Program.

The director has the task of providing direction, advice, and consideration of the National Game Industry Development Acceleration Program, and reporting the implementation of the National Game Industry Development Acceleration Program to the president on a regular basis.

Meanwhile, the head of the director was asked to form a working group according to needs by involving stakeholders.

Presidential Decree was promulgated by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno in Jakarta dated February 12, 2024, and took effect on the date of promulgation.
