KPPS Officers In Magetan Died Allegedly Fatigue

A polling group (KPPS) officer in Magetan Regency, East Java, was reported to have died allegedly due to fatigue after participating in preparations for the 2024 General Election.

KPPS officer named Rita Setyaningsih (41), a resident of Maospati, Magetan, who died on Monday (12/2), a day after attending a KPPS meeting to prepare for the election.

Rita Setyaningsih is known to have a history of hypertension or high blood pressure.

The chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) of Magetan Fahrudin Regency expressed his deep condolences to the deceased and the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) that they would pay attention to election officials who fell ill or died while on duty.

"The KPU expresses its deepest condolences for the passing of the deceased Rita Setyaningsih," said Fahrudindi, confirmed by reporters in Magetan.

Rita Setyaningsihm is a member of KPPS at Voting Station (TPS) 014, Maospati Village, Maospati District, Magetan. She is also listed as an active staff member of the General Section of the Regional Secretariat of Magetan Regency.

The deceased had participated in a series of preparatory voting activities for three consecutive days, from Friday (9/2) to Sunday (11/2) night.

On Sunday (11/2) night at around 21.00 WIB, Rita began to complain of dizziness, stiff right hand and weak left hand.

Rita kemudian dibawa ke Unit Dari Daruram Harsana Lanud Iswahjudi Maospati, Magetan. Namun, pada Senin pagi sekitar pukul 04.00 WIB, Rita dinyatakan meninggal dunia di rumah sakit tersebut.

Regarding the replacement for the deceased KPPS members, the Magetan KPU will make replacements by appointing other people who are also local residents.

"There will be an interim replacement (PAW) to replace the duties of the deceased," said Fahrudin.

In order to prevent a similar incident, the Magetan Regency KPU will provide additional food and vitamins to the local tens of thousands of KPPS officers.

Fahrudin hopes that this incident will not happen to other KPPS officers and all members of the election organizers can serve smoothly until it is finished.
