Geographic Constraints, Logistics For Elections To 6 Villages In North Seram Maluku Sent Using TNI Helicopters

MALUKU - KPU Maluku Province said the distribution of logistics for the 2024 General Election to six villages in North Seram District, Central Maluku Regency used an MI-17 helicopter belonging to the Indonesian Air Force.

The six villages are Kalora, Elemata, Kanike, Hatuolo, Manusela and Maraina. Distribution has been carried out since Saturday 10 February.

"There are a total of seven butts in the six villages, of which only Manusela village consists of two polling stations, while the other villages have one polling station each," said the chairman of the Maluku KPU, Rifan Kubangun, in Maluku, Monday, February 12, quoted by Antara.

He said the distribution of logistics to the north haphazard sub-district must use helicopters, because it is a remote and remote area.

The TNI-AU helicopter is used because geographical conditions cannot be reached by ordinary transportation. According to the mapping of the area, it is classified as isolated so that the kpu uses air transportation.

"If the logistics is carried, it will take approximately four to five days to arrive in the area, so you have to use a helicopter because the distance is less than an hour," he said.

He admitted that apart from the kpu helicopters, the TNI-AL warships also used logistics distribution to several coastal villages that were difficult to reach by land transportation.

Distribution used the assistance of the Indonesian Navy's defense equipment to five districts in Maluku, namely Southwest Maluku, Tanimbar Islands Regency, Aru Islands Regency, Central Maluku and TIMur Section Seram.

For MBD districts, logistics distribution uses KRI Teluk Mondama to reach 17 sub-districts in the area.

The Navy Ship (KAL) of Trangan Island III-09-06 serves the Eastern Aru Islands and Seram as well as KRI Hatahilar serving the Tanimbar Islands district.

"We have received support assistance from the TNI Al ship fleet and distribution has arrived in the sub-district to be forwarded to the village to Taps," he said.
