Panwaslu Kuala Lumpur Investigate Alleged Ballots Have Been Voted

JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) in Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia, is investigating allegations of piles of ballots by post for the 2024 General Election which have been submitted for certain presidential and vice presidential candidates.

"Still in the process (of tracing). It is planned that this afternoon we and our team will go to Pos Malaysia," said Panwaslu Chairman KLRizky Al-Farizied, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 7.

Panwaslu KL has been coordinating since Tuesday (6/2) night to check the truth of the video on social media, which shows a number of people voting for ballots sent by post.

Two videos have circulated on social media showing a number of people voting for the presidential-vice presidential election and ballots for legislative elections in the 2024 elections.

In the video, a pile of gray plastic is seen which is used as a package outside the envelope of the ballot via the post. One of the videos shows the pile of plastic packages that have been opened.

Meanwhile, member and spokesman for the Kuala Lumpur Overseas Election Committee (PPLN), Puji Sumarsono, said that his party was also investigating the truth of the video.

PPLN Kuala Lumpur has determined 447,258 voters in the Foreign Permanent Voter List (DPTLN) in its area, 156,367 of whom have submitted ballots sent by post.

The sending of ballots through the Pos Laju service from Pos Malaysia Berhad has been carried out in stages on January 11, 15 and 26.

Meanwhile, 67,946 voters will vote through the mobile ballot boxes (KSK) on February 4-10, and 222,945 other voters will visit the Overseas Voting Site (TPSLN) at the Men's World Trade Center (PWTC) Kuala Lumpur on February 11.
