Jokowi Inaugurates Governor Of West Sumatra Mahyeldi, Riau Islands And Bengkulu

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo inaugurated three governors and deputy governors at the State Palace today. The three of them are the Governor and Deputy Governor of West Sumatra, Riau Islands, and Bengkulu Provinces.

In the presence of Jokowi and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, the three governor and deputy governor pairs took their oath to become regional leaders for the five periods of 2021-2024.

"In the name of God, I swear that I will fulfill my obligations as governor, as deputy governor, in the best and fairest way possible, uphold the 1945 Constitution and carry out all laws and regulations in a straightforward manner, and serve the people, homeland, and the nation", said the three pairs of governors and deputy governors, Thursday, February 25.

They were previously candidates for governor and deputy governor who won the 2020 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) and have been endorsed by the General Election Commission (KPU_.

As of today, the three governors and deputy governors appointed by Jokowi are officially working to lead their respective regions, replacing the previous governors and deputy governors whose terms of office have expired.

After being inaugurated, Jokowi congratulated the three pairs of governors and deputy governors. Then, a group photo was taken by applying the health protocols.

The following are the names of the governor-deputy governor who were sworn in today:

1. Mahyeldi as Governor of West Sumatra and Audy Joinaldy as Deputy Governor of West Sumatra

2. Ansar Ahmad as Governor of Riau Islands and Marlin Agustinas as Deputy Governor of Riau Islands

3. Rohidin Mersyah as Governor of Bengkulu and Rosjonsyah as Deputy Governor of Bengkulu
