The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has confirmed that the repair of the Bekasi Station escalator, West Java will be completed this month.

DJKA through the Jakarta Railway Engineering Center (BTP) is improving the escalator at Bekasi Station as part of improving passenger services, routine maintenance of station infrastructure, as well as following up on the condition of the escalator that needs to be improved.

Head of BTP Jakarta Ferdian Suryo said that the escalator treatment for platforms 3 and 4 of Bekasi Stations had been carried out on Thursday (1/2) night.

"Alhamdulillah, currently the escalator can be reused by the community, hopefully it can facilitate community mobility at Bekasi Station," said Ferdian as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 2.

Meanwhile, one escalator on the north side of the station, which still needs to be repaired, is expected to be completed in mid-February. Meanwhile, other escalators at Bekasi Station operate normally and are ready to serve passengers.

The improvements that have been made include replacement of handrailbe and its components. The treatment was carried out by involving five technicians from vendors who were directly supervised by DJKA employees from BTP Jakarta.

Previously, the Director General of Railways Risal Wasal when inspecting Bekasi Station, Thursday (1/2) said DJKA would ensure that the repair of the escalator could be carried out more quickly so that it could be used by the public immediately.

"On behalf of the government, we apologize to the public for the inconvenience caused by the treatment of these escalators," said Risal.
